Jessica R.
Alsop is a Member of the Firm's Coal Group and the Public Finance
Practice Group. Ms. Alsop has been at Jackson Kelly
since 2002. Her practice currently focuses on mergers
and acquisitions and other commercial transactions for businesses and
non-profit organizations. Ms. Alsop is often engaged in
the representation of energy companies in the purchase and sale of mineral
rights, assets and subsidiaries. She also regularly
represents healthcare providers and other 501(c)(3) organizations in
financial and other business transactions, including tax-exempt
financings, and in organizational matters.
Ms. Alsop is a
graduate of the West Virginia University College of Law.
At the West Virginia University College of Law she served as the
Executive Editor of Student Works for the West Virginia Law Review, was
selected to the Order of the Coif, and received the Patrick Duffy Koontz
Leadership Award. Ms. Alsop then attended New York
University where she earned her L.L.M. in Taxation.
In the community,
Ms. Alsop is a member of the Board of Directors of the Schoenbaum Family
Enrichment Center, the Board of Directors of the Children's Therapy
Clinic, the governing council of the West Virginia Law Institute and the
Young Lawyers' Division of the The West Virginia Bar
Association. She is also a member of the John A. Field,
Jr. American Inn of Court and a graduate of the Charleston Chamber of
Commerce Leadership Charleston program. She has
previously been involved with the Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council,
the Junior League of Charleston and Read Aloud. Ms.
Alsop, a native of West Virginia, is admitted to practice before the West
Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals and the United States District Court for
the Southern District of West Virginia.
