Mission

The mission of the Southern West Virginia Chapter of AALNC is to enhance and promote the profession of Legal Nurse Consulting by providing a forum for the exchange of information, networking, and educational opportunities.

Chapter History

In September 2001, LNCs from several law firms in the Charleston area held an organizational meeting to form a local chapter of AALNC. The Southern West Virginia Chapter was officially chartered in January 2002 with nine Founding Members. In our first year we achieved many milestones, including hosting our first conference, launching our web site, and membership in the West Virginia Bar Association. We are proud to be the first LNCs in the nation to join a statewide bar association and officially establish our own LNC Section!

AALNC

All chapter members belong to the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants (AALNC), our professional nursing organization. The AALNC website has a wealth of information about legal nurse consulting, including tools for getting started. An online LNC course is available, as well as resources for the seasoned LNC. An outstanding national education conference is offered annually. AALNC supports certification through the LNCC Program administered by the American Legal Nurse Consultant Certification Board (ALNCCB). To learn more, visit www.aalnc.org

WVBA LNC SECTION
The West Virginia Bar Association created the first LNC Section in the country in 2002, allowing LNCs the unique opportunity to become associate members of the Bar. Many chapter members were founding members of the LNC Section, and several have served on the LNC Section Board of Directors. Our chapter’s founding president organized the group during our first year as a chapter, and later became the founding president of the LNC Section. Although chapter members are not required to join the WVBA, the majority of our members belong to this dynamic group.
