At its upcoming annual meeting, its Award of Merit will be given by the Association in recognition of a lifetime of achievement and exceptional service. West Virginia attorney Charles M. Love, III, has been named the 2023 recipient of the Award of Merit. Love has the remarkable distinction of having served as president of The West Virginia Bar Association as well as the state’s mandatory bar and is well known in litigation circles across the state. “I am honored to have been selected by the West Virginia Bar Association for its Award of Merit,” said Love. “I have been a supporter of Bar activities for over 50 years and believe they serve a valid and necessary purpose for our profession - especially in relation to the Legislature and our exceptional Judicial system.” "Charlie is the very epitome of what a lawyer should be”, a nominator wrote. "His service to the legal community is outstanding as past chairman of the State Bar ethics committee, past chairman of the West Virginia College of Law visiting committee and past chairman of the West Virginia University College of Law National Development Committee.” Sandra Chapman of Wheeling, President of the West Virginia Bar Association, encourages attendance, stating that members and non-members alike may register for the meeting.
