  • Session 2: “Tales From The Trenches” presented by Brian Gartley, Old Republic National Title Insurance. This session touches on several topics including State of the State; Investor and Wholesale Deals, Estates, and others.
  • Session 3: “Are You Safe In 2023? Fraud, Wire Fraud, And Other Scary Stories” presented by Michele Green, Esq., FNF Family of Companies. This session discusses issues regarding different scenarios with the potential for fraud and steps that real estate professionals can take to mitigate the risk associated therewith.
  • Session 4: “Real Estate Law Update” presented by Jesse Richardson, WVU College of Law. This session discusses recent case law and legislative developments impacting real estate attorneys in West Virginia.
  • Session 5: “Internal Revenue Service: Liens, Discharges, Key Regulations & Statutes” presented by Chris R. Arthur, Esq., Assistant United States Attorney. This session discusses the interplay between West Virginia real estate law and federal liens and the process involved with the discharge thereof.
  • Session 6: “Common Residential Issues and Underwriting a Commercial Transaction” presented by Dan Lutz, Esq., First American Title Insurance Company. This session discusses the issues involved in title insurance underwriting issues, including surveys, powers of attorney, churches and religious organizations, and issues pertaining to commercial transactions.
  • Session 7: “Lawyer Well-Being: Changing A Culture” presented by Robert Albury, WV Judicial & Lawyer Assistance Program. This session covers the National and WV Lawyer Well-Being Initiatives, and recommendations for changing a culture and improving the way we practice.
  • Session 8: “Real Estate Roundtable” presented by Mark Sadd, Lewis Gianola PLLC; John R. Henley, JRH Associates, Inc.; G. Russell Rollyson, Jr., Office of the West Virginia Auditor & David D. Pill, Pill & Pill, PLLC. In this popular session each panelist will present a “microtopic,” consisting of a short, 15–20-minute presentation.
